ANGOLA – Churubusco’s boys’ track placed in second out of 12 teams at the NECC championship Friday evening at Fairfield High School. The Eagles had 99 points, while first-place Lakeland tallied 102.
The Eagles had a strong shot put performance as Brayden Simmons won the event and teammate Garrett Horn finished second place. Simmons also got second place in the discus and Landen Pulley landed in third place.
Senior Zach Bultemeier came in third place in the 100-meter dash. Trey Springer placed fourth in the 800-meter dash. Jacob Eyer had a good showing in the 1,600-meter run finishing third. Nick Murphy got fourth place in the 110-meter hurdles. Freshman Sam Wood placed fourth in the 300-meter hurdles. Wood also got fourth in pole vault.
Churubusco finished in third in the 400-meter relay, seventh in the 1,600-meter relay and sixth in the 3,200-meter relay.
