Black Pine Earth Day takes place April 22


ALBION — Black Pine Animal Sanctuary in Albion will host an Earth Day event from 1-4 p.m. on Sunday, April 22 and offer electronics recycling services in the visitor parking lot.

Green E-Waste Miracles, Fort Wayne, is again sponsoring Black Pine’s Earth Day event and will offer recycling of unwanted including computers and peripherals, office equipment, small appliances and more. View a full list of items to be accepted and associated fees at

50 percent of all recycling fees collected will be received as a donation to Black Pine’s mission. Drop-off will be available from noon to 5 p.m. Some volunteer help is expected to be available for those needing assistance; however it is not guaranteed. Those in need of assistance with unloading their items are asked to call in advance to set up a drop-off time at 636-738

The sanctuary will also be open for visits with the animals from 1-4 p.m. Guests are encouraged to arrive by no later than 3 p.m. to allow ample time to explore the sanctuary and see the animals before closing.

In lieu of guided tours during Earth Day, guests will be allowed to explore the sanctuary at their leisure. Many of Black Pine’s knowledgeable staff members will be on hand to chaperone guests and introduce the animal residents. The Wolf Den Gifts and Things will also be open throughout the afternoon, offering a wide variety of gifts and souvenirs. All proceeds of this event help fund the care of displaced, captive-raised exotic animals for the rest of their lives.

Admission to the sanctuary is free for Park Pal members. Non-member fees at Earth Day will be free for ages 0-2 years, $7 for ages 3-9 years, $10 for ages 10-54, and $8 for ages 55 and up.
