COLUMBIA CITY — Vanessa Bills and Sean Martin, both of Whitley County, were recipients of the Dekko Foundation’s 35th birthday celebration grants.
Thirty-five pairs of shoes and 35 grants for $3,500 went to people “who exemplify what the Foundation’s leaders who everyone will do: Step back before they act and consider what children need to grow and develop,” a press release from Dekko reads.
Bills is the program officer for the Community Foundation of Whitley County. She offered her grant to the Whitley County Dazzlers to help pay for uniforms.
“As our squad grows in both size and numbers, there is always a need for new uniforms,” Bills said.
Completed uniforms cost $300 each, and there’s currently 29 participants.
Martin is the commander of the Whitley County Jail. He used his grant toward Boomerang Backpacks.
