Baseball takes care of Chargers

LIGONIER – Churubusco’s baseball team defeated West Noble 10-4 last week.

The Eagles got on the board first with a run in the first inning. Both teams scored a pair of runs in the third inning, making the score 3-2.

West Noble scored a run in the bottom of the fourth to tie the game at three.

Churubusco scored five runs in the fifth inning to take a substantial 8-3 lead — and never looked back. The Chargers scored their last run in the bottom of the fifth, and Churubusco added another pair of runs in the seventh to close out the game.

ALBION – Churubusco’s baseball team lost to Central Noble 8-5 last week.

Central Noble struck first, scoring six runs in the second inning. The Cougars added a pair of runs in the fourth inning. Churubusco tried to comeback, scoring four runs in the fifth inning and another in the seventh to make the final score 8-5.

Dean Stanley led the Eagles going 2 for 3 at bat and scoring a pair of runs.

Parker Curry went for 2 for 3 as well and hit two RBIs.

Baseball sectional is set

INDIANAPOLIS – Churubusco’s baseball team is set for sectionals at Canterbury High School starting May 27.

The Eagles (9-13) drew the bye and will take on Woodlan (9-12) at noon Saturday in the semifinal game.

If the Eagles win, they will advance to the sectional championship game Monday at 11 a.m. at Canterbury High School.
