Born in Fort Wayne, she was a purchasing agent with Appliance Parts for nine years, retiring in 1992. She was a member of Anthony Wayne Church of God. Barbara loved to spend time with her family, was truly gifted and loved to work with her hands. She spent many hours making quilts, crocheting, needlepoint and cross-stitching gifts of love for her family. She volunteered many hours organizing the Genealogy Department at the Allen County Library in Fort Wayne.
Surviving are her sons, Carlton D. (Diane) Monroe and Dan A. (Connie) Monroe of Churubusco; daughter, April E. (Jerome) Wheeler of Fort Wayne; brother, James (Catherine) Kruckeberg of Angola; half brother, Stephen (Carolyn) Kruckeberg of New Haven; half sister, Sharon Pelkie of Kendallville; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur C. and Crystal H. Kruckeberg; husband, Paul R. Monroe; stepsister, Joan Bradtmueller; and brother, David Kruckeberg.
Service is 2 p.m. Saturday, October 1, 2011, at D. O. McComb & Sons Pine Valley Park Funeral Home, 1320 East Dupont Road, with calling one hour prior.
