A. Carol Brandt

She was appointed Postmaster of the Arcola Post Office by President John F Kennedy and served the Arcola Post Office for 20 years before retiring on July 11, 1980. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Arcola, and St. Patrick’s Rosary Society. She was a member and past President, Secretary and Treasurer of the Indiana Chapter of National Association of Retired Postmasters. She was a member of the National A.A.R.P., National Association of retired Federal Employees and one of the last members of the former Waterloo Stitch and Chatter Club.

She married F. Vern Brandt in 1939 in Fort Wayne and he died in 1981. She is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, James Brandt of Sebring, FL and Robert (Donna) Brandt of Churubusco; three daughters and a son-in-law, Judy Bennett of Arcola, Jean (Frank) Blanton of Sebring, FL and Janelle Banks of Fort Wayne. There are 15 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

A mass of Christian burial will be 11 a.m. Monday, November 23, 2009 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Arcola. Father Alex Dodrai will officiate. Burial in St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery. Calling will be 2 to 6 Sunday November 22, 2009 at DeMoney Grimes Funeral Home, Columbia City with a rosary at 6 p.m. and also one hour prior to the service at the church Monday. Memorials can be directed to masses at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church or Allen County Heart Association. Feller and Clark Funeral Home of Auburn are assisting the family with arrangements.
