Panther Run

LAGRANGE – The Churubusco cross country team ran at the Panther Run at Prairie Heights Saturday. The boys team placed third out of six teams and the girls came in fourth.

Sam Keily led the way by placing fifth with a time of 17:38. Levi Skinner followed at 18:43.

Maggie Burita led the girls team with a time of 23:43. Allie Basinger followed 24:01.


Churubusco Invitational

CHURUBUSCO – It was a record-setting day for the Churubusco girls golf team last Thursday. The Lady Eagles broke two school records, as they shot a school best 185, and broke the front nine record by 21 strokes.

The Lady Eagles beat their own personal records as well. Churubusco downed Garrett and Fremont in the process.

Terra Mayer led Churubusco with a 43, earning herself a school record in the front nine. Jada Kirkpatrick was right behind with a 46, and Kira Creech shot a 47. Kenzie Tonkel shot a 49, and Kaitlynn Shull posted a 50.

Mayer and and Fremont’s Jaden Cardoso tied as medalists. At the time of the win, the Lady Eagles were undefeated in conference play.


Lakeland 3, Churubusco 2

CHURUBUSCO – The Churubusco boys tennis team defeated Lakeland 3-2 last week.

Noah Grim lost his no. 1 singles match 6-0, 6-0. No. 2 singles player Andy Bowyer was downed 6-1, 6-1. Andrew Boggess also lost his match 6-0, 6-0.

Lakeland did not have enough players to compete in no. 1 and 2 doubles, so Churubusco won a pair of points due to forfeits.

Fairfield 5, Churubusco 0

CHURUBUSCO – The Churubusco boys tennis team fell to Fairfield 5-0 last week.

No. 1 singles player Grim lost his match 6-0, 6-0. Bowyer fell in his no. 2 singles match 6-0, 6-1. Churubusco had to forfeit its no. 3 singles match since the Eagles didn’t have enough players. Boggess and Goniwicha lost their no. 1 doubles match 6-0, 6-0. Krider and Miller fought in their no. 2 doubles matches, but lost 6-3, 6-1.
